Retail Sales Associate | Part-Time


Will be responsible for interacting with and assisting customers on in-store purchases of baking supplies and party wares, as well as tasked with originating and managing some rental contracts for Ideal Tent & Event Rentals customers. Specific duties will include aiding customers with baking and party ware related inquiries, designing and setting in-store displays, restocking inventory, and some light cleaning duties. The Retail Sales Associate will also be responsible for answering phone calls and e-mails to our primary business lines, responding to or triaging those inquiries accordingly, and creating and updating rental quotes and contracts for individuals. The Retail Sales Associate will work closely with our Retail Sales Manager to oversee the retail sales floor and be the initial voice, face, and spokesperson for the company.


Including but not limited to:

  • Assist in-store customers with their baking supply and/or party ware inquiries and purchases
  • Manage the cash register while on-duty; develop and maintain a working knowledge of our Point of Sale system. (Training will be provided for qualified candidates)
  • Design/Set in-store retail displays, seasonally
  • Maintain a tidy and well-stocked retail sales floor through light cleaning duties and diligent restocking of inventory
  • Answer phone calls to our primary business line with courteous, knowledgeable, and prompt customer service
  • Respond to incoming e-mails from our address as they are received, and/or disseminate said e-mails to the appropriate Ideal team member(s), when applicable
  • Originate and manage rental contracts through the use and understanding of our rental inventory software. (Training will be provided for qualified candidates)
  • Promptly and effectively communicate with in-store/phone customers and potential customers on their specific rental inquiries
  • Maintain positive and open relationships with other event vendors and venue employees throughout the region
  • Assist with managing the in-store pickup/rental return calendar to ensure company-wide logistical cohesion.

qualifications & requirements

  • 16-20 hours/week; weekdays and some Saturdays
  • Exceptional customer service, with knowledge of baking products/supplies and/or the event industry a plus
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
  • 1-2+ years previous retail experience a plus, but not required
  • A general comfort with computers is needed
  • Ability to both work independently and multitask, as the situation requires
  • A creative eye
  • Ability to be resourceful and a creative problem solver
